dcterms.abstractA significant proportion of end-use energy utilization is used by buildings, while air-conditioning systems consumed the largest proportion. This research project aims to investigate control strategies to achieve energy saving, analyze how they proposed they improve energy performance in this case study, and provide reference data for building automation system and control strategies upgrade in the future. In this dissertation, the building's energy performance was proposed to be improved by three control strategies upgrades. Firstly, the control strategies upgrade of air handling units (AHUs) mainly involves modifying the control system to a variable air volume flow (VAV) system. Secondly, supply chilled water temperature (SCWT) schedule reset varies the SCWT setpoint according to the measured data in the corresponding timestep. Lastly, cooling-load-based chiller sequencing control is designed to control the number of operating chillers according to the cooling load. The annual building energy consumption could reduce by up to 16.6% by applying all those control strategies. In conclusion, it is worth investigating time and effort in control strategies upgrade before considering replacing equipment.en_US
