| dcterms.abstract | Among the various roles of a facility manager, space management is one the most representative and challenging in a fast changing society. Space planners are required to perform their duties more actively when their organizations are undergoing organization structural changes and relocation is always unavoidable. Organizations are reducing their headcount not because they are declining but, while their business are growing. The purpose of this dissertation was to evaluate the success factors of space management as a result of organizational changes. A conceptual model (submarine model) was derived after literature reviewed. To support the applicability of the conceptual model, a case study of space reorganization as a result of academic restructuring in Hong Kong Institute of Education was carried out. Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) was conducted to investigate the satisfaction of relocated staff. Analysis to the POE questionnaire survey provided some quantitative results pertaining to the impact of the move to the case study examined. The findings from the POE questionnaire survey indicated that respondents considered the new personal offices were better than before the move in general except for noise and lighting. Their general offices were perceived as being more crowded, It could be deduced that early involvement in the planning of new office would contribute to the satisfaction level of the new offices. | en_US |
