| dcterms.abstract | The outbreak of financial crisis in the late 1997 causes a majority of firms in Hong Kong to face a hostile business environment. Despite that, there are still a number of firms surviving, or even growing, during the bad times in 1998 and 1999. It is therefore interesting to study the factors attributing to the survival of those firms. In this research, two entrepreneurial firms were studied with the aim to understand and analyse their survival strategies or actions taken to cope with the hostile business environment. The factor of entrepreneurial posture to face the hard times was also discussed. The two entrepreneurial firms studied in this research are a) the Tai Hing Roast Shop Group (太興燒味連鎖店集團) and b) the Four Seas Fish Balls Company Limited (四海魚蛋有限公司). It was found that both firms had taken some "strategic" actions and "internal" actions to survive, or grow, in hostile business environment. In addition, the entrepreneurial posture of confidence, perseverance and persistance, innovation and visionary are found in the leaders of these two firms. | en_US |
