Using of Matlab to analyze the validation of BIM-based simulation for fire safety evacuationen_US
In daily life, there are many things that threaten life and property safety caused by improper fire design and safety management. Normally, fire protection is designed to take into account only the usual per capita speed. However, in such a dense public building as the library, it is necessary to consider the flow of people, whether people are familiar with the environment, and people's emotions, so as to make the calculation results more convincing. In this experiment, (1) CAD drawings were imported into BIM to build the seventh floor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University library which has not yet been built; (2) The BIM file is converted into IFC version and imported into FDS for fire simulation; (3) Use MATLAB to calculate the longest escape route of human beings and compare the results of Pathfinder software. If the end result is smaller than Pathfinder's calculation, then Pathfinder's plan works. This experiment will compare the Matlab results with outcomes of Pathfinder, giving a conclusion as to whether Pathfinder works, as well as listing the limitations of the experiment and areas that can be improved.en_US
