dc.title | Design of converters with integrated magnetics | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Most of today's VRMs (voltage regulator modules for CPUs) draw power from 5V voltage bus. However, for future applications, 5V will be too low to meet the even increasing power requirement. Distributed power systems with 12V or 48V bus will be feasible solutions for future high end computer systems. In this dissertation, an interleaving 2-phase forward converter with integrated magnetics (IM) and V2 control architecture will be proposed for VRM applications. This converter features of low output current ripple, fast transient response, high efficiency and high power density. And, it will be suitable for 48V operation. The whole idea will be demonstrated on a DC/DC converter which draws power from a 48V bus and provides a 1.2-1.5V/40A output. The operating principle, circuit analysis, and analysis of integrated magnetic components will be discussed. Also, the experimental results will be reported in this dissertation. | en_US |
