Investigation on condensation problem in sport center : case study : Tai Po Hui Sport Centeren_US
This study aims to carry out the dripping investigation in the Tai Po Hui Sport Center and to give solutions on the incident. As all parties of the construction team suspected the major cause of the condensation problem was related to the roof structure or the air conditioning system, two data logging systems were set up in different locations inside the main arena. The collected data were then analyzed together with the data from the computerized monitoring system in the air conditioning system plant room which was provided by the contractor. On the other hand, on-site measurements for checking the accuracy and reliability of data were accomplished within the investigation period. The results show that condensation would seriously occur in summer time caused by the insufficient dehumidification capacity of the existing air conditioning system and infiltration of outdoor air from the curved metal roof structure. Recommendations with respect to different problems are provided and discussed in terms of feasibility and costs involved.en_US
