dcterms.abstractIn this article, the problem of ineffective shop floor control for traditional production control system, based on Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII), the lack of accurate real-time production data makes it impossible for the planner to plan and solve capacity problems. This leads to problems on the shop floor that cannot be resolved easily at the MRP level. The work here involves the system design and implementation of a Real-Time Shop Floor Control System (RTSFCS) to solve the fore-said problem. The system takes the form of a closed-loop planning system that operates on real-time data. An overview of the functions performed by RTSFCS in this closed-loop planning is described. Detailed discussion about the real-time data acquisition is presented within the RTSFCS, a Task Designer is used to graphically program the mode of data acquisition and illustration of the process flow related to the real-time capturing devices. Object-Oriented Development (OOD) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) are used in the prototyping to give greater flexibility to the shop floor control system.en_US
