The determinants of stress coping styles of local Chinese managers : an exploratory studyen_US
Drawing the stress-coping strategies checklist from western countries which started to evolve into various stress model since 1950s, a model is developed from the research conducted by Professor Bonita C. Long (1990) and Billings & Moos (1981); the model is used to test what are the choices of occupational stress-coping strategies for local Chinese managers and what are the determinants to the choice of coping strategies. Questionnaires were completed by 87 managers from different industries. Regression analyses provide support to certain empirical support for some correlation between stress coping styles and the independent variables such as: demographic variables, occupational environment, and stressor episodes. It was found that in this exploratory study, the various determinants for both the stress coping styles and the level of occupational stress did shown meaningful pattern and foundation for further research in local context.en_US
