| dcterms.abstract | Outsourcing is a hot topic nowadays in Hong Kong. The Housing Authority, for example, has outsourced all their building management works to private service providers with an objective to become more cost-effective in their operations. With this in mind, the author attempts to identify the best sourcing method(s) for building maintenance works for Grade A office buildings in Hong Kong. This dissertation identifies the issues companies need to consider when determining their sourcing methods. It also explores if it is a necessary to outsource its building maintenance works if a company is already the best practice in the building management field. It is suggested in this dissertation that companies should review and make use of their own strengths. It is argued that different improvement and revised working methods can effect savings in companies without compromising the existing level of service. Most importantly, some of them can increase the cost-effectiveness of works while maintaining the morale and attitude of works of existing staffs. Companies can also make use of these methods to benchmark themselves and enjoy the flexibility of outsourcing some of their work in the future. | en_US |
