| dcterms.abstract | This paper was a study on the relationship between an organisation culture and the subculture. And the objective is examine if there is subculture across various groups within an organisation. The variables used to measure the groups are position ranking, tenure, age, educational level, and different functional department between employees. An analysis by the framework of culture web from Hay Management Consultants is employed in this research. Five hypotheses are developed. It is hoped that the findings would present some implications to the management of the organisation. Apart from educational level, it is found that there is subculture across various groups within the organisation with respect to age, tenure, ranking and department. However, if we look at the whole picture of the entire organisation, there is no difference among the groups at all. The results seem to be contrary to the suggestions found from most of the literature about subculture. With these findings, policies can be formed and implemented with regards to those appropriate subculture elements to build up a better and more coherent corporate culture in an organisation. | en_US |
