Abstract: A study of organizational commitment, job satisfaction and intent to remain of nurses was carried out in a selected hospital (Caritas Medical Centre) in Hong Kong. Three-component model of organizational commitment (Meyer and Allen, 1990), job satisfaction measures (Cheung, et.al., 1993) and intent to remain (Price and Mueller, 1981) were used as the instruments. Stratified random sampling was adapted and 206 out of 660 hospital nurses were included in the study. Female hospital nurses were predominant in the sample. Descriptive statistics of the individual variables, organizational commitment, job satisfaction and intent to remain were computed. T-test and one way ANOVA test were used to test the significance difference of the results. Pearson correlation and regression analysis were also applied. Results show organizational commitment and job satisfaction are significant predictors to intent to remain of nurses. The individual demographic variables only affect the intent to remain through influencing the organizational commitment and job satisfaction.
