A study on job satisfaction of social workers in a social service organization in Hong Kongen_US
In contemporary times, job satisfaction has become an important subject to study. It is important for one to achieve job satisfaction and enjoy his/her job in order to enrich one's well being. The research aims to ( 1 ) explore how social workers define and perceive job satisfaction; and (2) identify factors that affect 'job satisfaction' and its significance to social workers. A qualitative research method with an interview - guide approach was adopted in order to get a more in-depth understanding of the topic. Eight social workers were interviewed to identify their perceptions on job satisfaction and dissatisfaction. All respondents were asked to express their satisfaction and dissatisfaction on three different levels - organizational level, interpersonal level, and job level. On the whole, respondents felt dissatisfied with the promotion system, administrative policy and decision-making process, and satisfied with the staff welfare, fringe benefit, relationship with clients and colleagues. Among all three cases, it was found that respondents had a sense of satisfaction about their job as they had to work closely with their clients and had an opportunity to achieve success, despite there were dissatisfaction about the organization policy, decision-making process, and staff promotion.en_US
