dcterms.abstractDespite significant progress in the field of learning transfer research over the past decades, very little research in the area has been conducted within the hospitality industry. This paper, based on Holton 's Learning Transfer System (LTS) model, investigated the learning transfer functions in hotels in China The primary objectives of the study were to identify factors in China Hotel Learning Transfer System (CHLTS), to find out the CHLTS differences among various types of hotels, to access the significant differences between CHLTS and trainees' demographic characteristics, to develop a hotel-oriented diagnostic tool for transfer evaluation and enhancement, and to explore the relationship between job satisfaction and learning transfer. A sample of 219 employees responded to a self-administered questionnaire. As a result, six factors such as organization 's innovations and customers' reactions and some major barriers to transfer such as organizational responses to transfer results were identified in CHLTS. Joint venture and 5-star hotels did the best in learning transfer. Findings of the relationship between respondents' demographics and CHLTS and the one between employee's job satisfaction and organization 's learning transfer system were also demonstrated. Some unique features of the Chinese culture such as "Guanxi" and "Mientsu "were discussed Suggestions for enhancement of learning transfer were made in this study for hotels in China to consider.en_US
