Abstract: With the development of tourism Industry in Mainland China, more and more tourists from abroad visit China. Internet is used widely for seeking information to help tourists know something about their destination in advance. It is a chance for Chinese restaurant to promote their menu online. Now the problem is how to translate Chinese menu into English and promote online. This thesis is a study on the foreigner' s recognition of translated Chinese menu online. Main research problems includes tourists requirement on the Chinese menu translation online, and the translation rules which effect tourists' recognition. This thesis use questionnaires to collect data, and use SPSS to analysis all the collected data. The findings of study indicate that the recognition of Chinese menu translation is poor, restaurants have to find a easiest way to translation the Chinese menu so as to well promote online.
