Abstract: As Software production environment constantly evolves, new phenomena such as Knowledge Management, extensive collaboration, frequent changes, and R&D personnel turnover have become new challenges of modern software production. Serving as architecture to build the whole management methods in a software development project, the concept of Life Cycle emerges in a stable software business and production environment. However, it can not bear the heavy responsibilities to act as a foundation for modern software production mode. Besides, to solve these new issues, traditional software engineering theories usually focus only on various activities of software development, while the research in project management discipline is quite general and software characteristics are not sufficiently considered. The split between these two directions of research has damaged the integrity of software project activities and brings about a lot of mismatching when research achievements are applied to implementation of software projects. Thus, this dissertation integrates the achievements of software engineering discipline and project management discipline base on a systematic viewpoint, and devises a new concept DMA (Development Management Architecture) to substitute the fundamental position of software project management. This concept is based on the Life Cycle concept. It also standardizes all contents derived from various Life Cycles models which have confused lots of Project managers in mainland China, and it realizes and expands the full roles charged by Life Cycle. In order to prove that the DMA approach fits the practical need of Project management and modern software production environment, this dissertation analyses of successful software development frameworks such as MSF of Microsoft, RUP of IBM, and combine the questionnaire Survey of project manager in mainland China. To help project manager get start, each step of introducing DMA approach into practice has been analyzed. Especially, both methodologies of building organizational assets, such as DMA Pattern library, key Driver Factor tactic, verification rules and the Reduction Process of Driver Factor have been provided by this dissertation.
