Abstract: | As the enforcement on Water Pollution Control imposed on discharges from bleaching and dyeing factory, the lack of effective technology, space availability and economic problem for installing a large wastewater treatment system to meet the Government requirement become a series problem for water pollution control. It is high time for us to concern a design to tackle the problem. In this study, we concern about the treatment performance of Electrocoagulation Process in a pipe reactor to remove color from dyeing wastewater. In the study because of the available of pipe reactor is not ready at early stage , therefore we separate the study into two stages. The first stage is the study on the feasibility of electrocoagulation process for different types of synthetic dyeing wastewater. The second stage is the treatment performance of a pipe reactor to remove color from dyeing wastewater by electrocoagulation. At the first stage , we also divided it into two parts. In the first part (IA) we use the beaker for our study and due to the holding volume of beaker, only the time for the occurrence of clear solution were determined. Results showed that the treatment performance of direct dyes were better than disperse dyes and then sulphur and reactive dyes. In the second part (Stage IB), we selected a large rectangular tank for the studies, so that the volume taking out would not affect the study volume and the current could be varied in a large extend. The results showed that increase the current would decrease the treatment time and no clear relationship were observed for the relationship of plate distant to the treatment time. In the 2nd stage, a pipe reactor was designed for the study of variation of flow rate and current to the color removal efficiency for dyeing wastewater collected at Bleaching and Dyeing factory. Due to the operation problem, only half-flow of the pipe was used. From the study, most of the samples could attain 90% of color removal. |
