Wireless ATM network study and performance analysis of the Dynamic Packet Reservation Multiple Access protocolen_US
In this dissertation various aspects of the wireless ATM network are studied. One of many important aspects for the performance of wireless ATM is the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol. The MAC protocol must be able to handle different ATM services satisfyingly with their different performance requirements. Additionally, the protocol must be able to cope with the complex radio environment. Different wireless MAC protocols are compared. The "Dynamic Packet Reservation Multiple Access (DPRMA)" protocol, proposed by Debroah A. Dyson and Zygmunt J. Haas [1] in 1997, are found to be outstanding among these protocols. Since there are many area not covered in the original paper, this dissertation study the DPRMA protocol in detail. Furthermore, a simulation program is written with the C++ language in a structured way to evaluate the proposed MAC protocol for wireless ATM network and to investigate the various aspects of using this protocol.en_US
