| Abstract: | Global village is a contemporary word which describes the situation that national boundary becomes ambiguous and evolves to a single entity. With continuously accelerating on global activities (especially business transactions), the countries are living interdependently. Based on the business activities, the composition of the supply chain network was changed significantly in last decade. In last decade, the commodities were exported from eastern manufacturers (mainly China) and flowed to western buyers (mainly Western Europe and US). Recently, the supply chain network configuration becomes a dual way flowing and the flowing velocity becomes more frequent. Hong Kong container port terminals get full benefit on these distinctive advantages such that Hong Kong always is the busiest port in the world. Cargo handling industry always plays a crucial role in Hong Kong economy; it generates certain percentage of Hong Kong GDP. Nowadays, the industry faces critical challenge on airfreight and China container port industry. This project intends to define the optimal strategic position of Hong Kong container port industry and create win-win situation to achieve maximum benefit to all stakeholders. |
