dcterms.abstractProject Administration of the infrastructure provision projects in Territory Development Department is a complex process because of the large number of dependent activities, working parties and other constraints involved. Existing software systems with advanced features for scheduling are not specifically helpful in project administration. This is because these systems lack the capability to analyse data for users, and the intelligence necessary to make recommendation for users to take appropriate actions if there is unanticipated delays in the schedule. In addition, these systems do not provide any logical explanation for the course of actions recommended to the users. Incorporation of Artificial Intelligence techniques to the existing software may help in resolving the problems and is the theme for this dissertation.en_US
