The implementation of supply chain management in the property management industryen_US
Organizations nowadays are facing a new, more demanding environment, with a new type of customer who is smarter, tougher, and less forgiving than ever before. However, due to the hierarchy structure of an organization, the focus on serving the needs of customers has been shifted to internal affairs. Organizations are too bureaucracy and inflexible to deal with the new environment where changes are from everywhere. And these are the changes that will put a company out of business. Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the process of optimizing a company's internal practices as well as the company's interaction with suppliers and customers, in order to bring products or services to market more efficiently. It involves a fundamental rethinking and redesigning in the way we work so as to move our focus back to the customer needs and collaboration with suppliers and customers. However, it is common knowledge that the concept of SCM is easy but its implementation is difficult, especially in the service industry. A framework developed in this dissertation will be served as a tool to increase the likelihood of success of SCM in the service industry projects. In this dissertation, a proposed SCM methodology in service industry is presented. The literature on SCM methods is surveyed, analyzed, and integrated to produce a comprehensive method for conducting SCM. Then the proposed critical success factors will be tested in a SCM exercise that was undertaken in a property management company.en_US
