Intelligent manufacturing resources planning systemen_US
In Manufacturing Company, Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRPII) is a very common system. It not only replaces many manual calculations, but also saves a lot of time to enhance the company competition ability. In this dissertation, the traditional MRP II system concept will be introduced and some of its limitations will also be addressed. To overcome the MRPII limitations, an Intelligence Manufacturing Resources Planning System (IMRP) is developed. The details will be elaborated in the later session. The knowledge base of IMRP come from Literature survey on MRP II System, Expert System, Manufacturing System. Interviews are conducted with experienced users who have raised common traditional MRP II Problems and their actual requirements. Besides, questionnaires are issued to other manufacturing company IT Department to gather their MRP System situation and problems. Prototype Design and Program Development are conducted. Lastly, to evaluate the intelligent MRP System, experienced users are invited to test the system with their actual daily data to see whether this system can fulfill their requirements or not. PowerBuilder are used as front-end tools to develop this expert system. This programming tool can be used to develop a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and interactive System to user easily. The back-end database engine is SQL Anywhere as RDBMS. Client/Server Technology has been adopted so that the IMRP runs on Personal Computer as Client Part. Only small amount necessary data are interfaced from Host Server to the Client. Therefore, the Host Computer loading can be released and a cost-effective way will be achieved. This dissertation demonstrates the intelligent MRP System can handle Substitution, Variable Production Capacity, Vendor Reassignment and automatically handle the customer requirements change. Moreover, it is to introduce Client / Server MRP System to manufacturing system so that the Host Computer Loading can be released and a cost-effective way can be achieved. This may act as a reference for future MRP System Development. It is particular useful in China because MRP II is still new to China nowadays and in 1995, it was estimated that MRPII only is used in 170 of the country more than 18,000 mid-size and large factories [6]. Therefore, the need for an intelligent and interactive MRP System is very great.en_US
