Abstract: For the global manufacturing environment today, the Pearl River Delta Region plays a remarkable role. The Pearl River Region is the location where the World Factory situated. It is also the resource to support the Hong Kong 's economic growth. This study will provide the information and some constructive ideas for someone who needs it. I hope that this study contributes some value to academic circle and to delineate the roadmap for investors. Purpose -To examine the challenges faced by the manufacturing firm, which is located at the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region in the Mainland China. In particula, this study identifies the condition of the manufacturing strategy formulation and problems during the strategy implementation of manufacturing firms facing. Methodology - Case study approach was considered appropriate to test a general theory within a specific context. Six manufacturing firms were selected and studied. The study information is collected through their company web site, annual report, individual in-depth interview with the middle management staff and semi-structured questionnaire Findings -The alignment in between the nature of manufacturing firm and internal value creating process is key to direct the PRD manufacturing firm on the right trend of success for competitive advantage on the global marketplace. The collaborative manufacturing is the one of effective way and concept for PRD manufacturing firm through the integration activity to gain the synergy effect for facing the rapid changing manufacturing environment. Study Implications - Study the essential elements of manufacturing strategy for manufacturing firms need to align and understand which way for PRD manufacturing firm need to be integrated for improving their position to gain the competitive advantage in the PRD region. Value -The variety and nature of the cases covering can be successfully incorporated into the teaching program of the manufacturing strategy. All organizations appeared in this study will be anonymous. Nevertheless, all the cases reflect real issues that the organization facing with at the time of study, the case have been written for the purposes of setting the guidelines and roadmap for investors who intend to establish their manufacturing firms at the Pearl River Delta Region.
