dcterms.abstractAnimation is a complex technology which has been employed in many scientific fields. The increased usage of animation in spatial visualization implies that users and researchers have great needs to understand the proper animation software for spatial visualization. To serve for this purpose, a systematic evaluation of animation software becomes a matter of some importance and urgency. In the study, an evaluation of various sets of animation software is conducted through comparative analysis of quality and quantity. In the aspect of quality, four benchmarks are used, i.e. functions, maneuverability, data processing and performance of products. A survey was conducted for evaluating performance of products produced by various sets of animation software. In terms of quantity, a statistical method called Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which is widely used in making business decision, has been employed to produce thorough statistical results. After such evaluation, it has been found that Ulead GIF Animator 5 applied in 2D animation and Google SketchUp applied in 3D animation are better. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method reflects performance of animation software for spatial visualization. Finally, results of comparative analysis obtained by qualitative and quantitative methods are identical.en_US
