Abstract: The present investigation was performed on visualization in the flow generated by a thermal jet which was issuing from the outlet of a circular tube, and the flow was encounting by a cross flow at lower temperature . The situation was similar to the plume emitted from a chimney, which was encounting by the cross-flow wind. The project was started by reviewing the behavior and structure of flow pattern from buoyant thermal jet under various jet with vary velocity ratios (R) between the jet and the crossflow. A very detail review on the numerical simulation studies, experimental investigations and visualization studies between 1972 and 1995 had been carried out. Effect of jet temperature had also be reviewed. Flow visualization study of the thermal jet at various velocity ratios (R) and different jet temperatures were then performed. The measurements were evaluated by other predecessor which were then reviewed and discussed with, to yield the mean-velocity components, the turbulent kinetic energy, the turbulent shear stresses and, the other terms in the turbulent kinetic-energy equation. The results gave a quantitative picture of the complex three-dimensional mean flow and turbulence fields, The various phenomena as well as their dependence on the velocity ratio (R) and jet temperature were are discussed in detail.
