Abstract: Grocery retailer market is a well known high competition market. Retailers has strive for survive by technology innovation and strategy innovation. Electronic Point Of Sales system, Enterprise Resource Planning system and Data Warehouse system is the core system of daily business. These systems are designed for operational process and transaction processing. Phone, facsimile and Email application has been used to support inter-office, inter-store and head office to store communication. However, there are gaps between head office, stores and suppliers which system does not cover. This dissertation proposes a customized portal for supermarket. It is an intranet portal with three main module, they are Communication, Knowledge Management and Resource Planning. The system prototype has been implemented in a Hong Kong supermarket. After evaluation, the proposed system has increased the effectiveness of store communication, retained and shared knowledge of frontline operations and increased the quality of decision support through bridging internal and external system information exchange. As a result, the proposed system is highly valued by the senior management committees.
