Abstract: An attempt was made in this study to examine team teaching and to ask whether or not this teaching approach motivates and enhances technical institute students' learning of English. In order to become more aware of this teaching style, two sets of questionnaires were designed. One aimed at finding the English teachers' opinions. Another aimed at finding the students' interests and preferences in team teaching. The students were attending a one-year full-time Technician Certificate course at Haking Wong Technical Institute. The numbers of respondents of the two surveys were 6 and 41 respectively. The results of these two questionnaires were analysed. Although there were a number of different patterns of perception with regard to English teachers' and students' responses to the various questionnaire sections, there were few very striking differences between the experimented groups. It was concluded that only about 50 per cent of the English teachers supported team teaching whereas over 90 per cent of the students on the course favoured and supported a team teaching approach. They considered that team teaching would enable them to acquire the language more effectively and efficiently than the traditional one-teacher approach.
