| dcterms.abstract | With the advent of Internet, Electronic Commerce is widely considered to have enormous potential to improve effectiveness, efficiency and innovative capabilities of organizations. By the adoption of electronic commerce, organizations can address wider markets, meet the need of customers more effectively, achieve better customer-supplier interactivity and reduce operation costs. As small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are the basic roots of Hong Kong, their contributions are very critical to the economic growth of Hong Kong. Therefore, it is important to promote the awareness of the adoption of e-commerce by SMEs. However, lacks of technical skills and investment capital are major obstacles to SMEs in entering into the electronic marketplaces. This paper presents an electronic commerce model, which is dedicated to SMEs in Hong Kong. The proposed e-commerce model helps small businesses formulating e-business infrastructure and identifying the major facilitators and inhibitors in adopting EC. Furthermore, the level of adoption of E-Commerce by Hong Kong SMEs has been studied to give a reference to organizations and researchers. | en_US |
