Abstract: The control problem of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) was investigated. It is an acoustic reduction of noise by introducing a corresponding anti-phase sound wave. At a known area in space, destructive interference of the noise source by an anti-phase sound wave is made to occur, resulting in a quiet zone. This anti-phase sound is produced by means of adaptive filtering. Experiments were performed using a PC computer equipped with analog-to-digital converters and digital-to-analog converters. Computer simulations were also carried out by MATLAB, a software package for numeric computations. Finally, A feedforward 1x2x2 (one noise reference, two cancelling driving sources and two error sensors) ANC system demonstrates an improved noise reduction area. In which, the adaptive multiple channel filtered-X LMS algorithm is used for updating the feedforward controllers. In addition, secondary path modelling techniques were also studied.
