Integrating semi-structured data from the Web with structured data in databasesen_US
This dissertation develops an application that extracts semi-structured HTML data from the Internet, converts the data into structured one and stores them in a relational database. Once stored in the database, the data can be retrieved by users via submitting SQL-like statements. For commercial purpose, companies can use the applications to integrate web information into their existing databases, or form parts of their data warehouse system. For academic purpose, different approaches conducted by various research parties on querying web information are studied and their methodologies are applied to build the application. The application developed here can also act as the basis for building a data warehouse system.en_US
