Development of an intelligent alarm processor for power system operationen_US
This dissertation describes the development of an Intelligent Alarm Processor for power system operation using rule based system approach. The background and industrial trend to tackle the problems are outlined.. The requirements of the solution system are specified followed by the design consideration taken into account. Practical considerations including interfacing requirements with the real time Energy Management System, easy maintainability of the Power System Topology Model, and the ability to cope with different types of system fault are identified. The strategies adopted in tackling these problems are described in details. Techniques and tools adopted by the proposed system are introduced. These include the use of Microsoft Foundation Class Library for building up the framework of the system, the use of Dynamic Data Exchange to acquire the event data, and the use of knowledge based system to validate the hypotheses created. The detailed designs and maintenance information are given in the following chapters. Testing results of the prototype system using genuine cases are also presented. The experiences acquired and rooms for improvement are summarized in the final section.en_US
