Abstract: This project aims to study the productivity of clerical staff in Loans and Deposits Services Department of Chase Manhattan Bank with a view to further improve the productivity by applying a planned Productivity Improvement Program. A set of Attitude Survey Questionnaires was used to collect the staff's attitude towards the bank and their job. Also, the productivity level of the department was measured by a quantitative method before the implementation of the Productivity Improvement Program. Before formulating the Improvement Program, "Servosystem Productivity Model" was selected as the framework for the program. Since the factors described in this model were comprehensive and the interactions with productivity were fully explained, the Productivity Improvement Program were designed based on these factors. These factors included 1)Personal, Peer and Supervisor Reaction, 2)Change, Procedures and Authority, 3)Job Method, Ability and Skill, 4)Quantitative Reward, 5)Qualitative Reward, 6)Effort/Pay Ratio, 7)Measurement of Performance, 8)Communication and Involvements, 9) Working Condition, l0)Supervision Method and 1l)Company Goals. The staff satisfaction and departmental productivity level after the Productivity Improvement Program was measured and demonstrated that the program was effective. Since the Improvement Program was formulated by applying "Servosystem Productivity Model" as the framework, the success in the program ascertained the validity of the model.
