Abstract: Although performance appraisal has been evolved for decades, employees often complain that appraisals are not made with fairness. The present study investigates appraisee reactions on various performance appraisal characteristics, including feedback, goal setting, participation, perception of supervisor, performance evaluation, reward allocation and some personal variables. Questionnaires were administered to two groups of samples (supervisory and non-supervisory employees) in a multinational company. The findings suggested that positive feedback, trust, performance evaluation and reward allocation were the major determinants of employee satisfaction towards performance appraisal. On the other hand, even though supervisory employees and non-supervisory employees had different perceptions on performance appraisal, results did not support a direct relationship between appraiser status and employee appraisal satisfaction.
