| dcterms.abstract | Social work practice is entering into a new stage in the use of computer to advise on handling child protection cases as if an experienced social work consultant. The present study is to develop an expert system called Child Protection Consultation System (CPCS) which resembles the ways a social work practitioner deals with child protection cases in the areas of determination of type of abuse, assessment of risk level, examination of family support and formulation of child welfare plan. With the aims of protecting the best interests of children in society, propagating the expertise of handling child protection cases in social work practice, and promoting child welfare, CPCS is designed to be a hybrid expert system comprising rule-based reasoning and case-based reasoning with fuzziness being incorporated. Practicing social workers, students studying social work in the universities, and those interested in the social work helping professional can use CPCS for substantiation of the case for child welfare need and for advice on how the viable welfare plan for the concerned child in an efficient and effective way. | en_US |
