Abstract: This document is an e-commerce dissertation with the topic on Federated Identity in Web Services Security. The objective of this document is to describe and give the brief information on the main ideas & concepts of the core Web services' technologies & Web services' security, and describe the federated identity in Web services. As there are many different applications along with federated identity in Web services security and smart cards are experiencing increased pervasive & adoption in Hong Kong, we will also describe the smart card technology and find out more information about the readiness and acceptance of smart card with federated identity in Web services security and the application for the smart card with federated identity in Web services. Lastly, an implementation will be proposed on the smart card-based federated identity.
