Institutional mechanism of redevelopment and urban gentrification in Chinaen_US
This research presents the problems in the relocation process of urban gentrification and examines the theories and mechanism of relocation in the context of China. It provides some recommendations about how to build a relative better mechanism in tackling the current problems in China. By analyzing the case of Yuechuan in Sanya, it was found out that the theories cannot fully cover and explain what happened in gentrification and relocation of China. Because the government predominated in the redevelopment and renovation process, and it is hard to predict and explain the government's action with the theories. It is still difficult to judge whether the theories are can apply in the context of China, because the situation in Yuechuan did not substantially match with theories. This study finally answers the question about what the root cause of dispute and dissatisfaction are and what kind of mechanism should be built to tackle the disputes in China's gentrification.en_US
