Abstract: This work derives the closed-form Cramer-Rao bounds (CRBs) for the estimation of an incident far-field point-source's azimuth-elevation arriving angles and polarization parameters. The receiving antennas are a triad of spatially collocated but orthogonally oriented dipoles and/or loops. The CRBs for all twenty possible compositions of such a triad are derived in this dissertation. The derived CRBs are verified by Monte Carlo simulation of maximum-likelihood estimation. Furthermore, CRBs of triads with two antennas (one dipole and one loop) oriented along z-axis plus another dipole/loop oriented along x/y-axis have been simplified in the following commonly encountered polarization states, (i) horizontal-linearly polarization, (ii) vertical-linearly polarization, (iii) right-hand-circularly polarization. Qualitative observations are obtained from the derived formulas to help engineers to select antennas among the twenty different compositions.
