dcterms.abstractThe rockhead of two tunnelling sites in Hong Kong are being modelled by Kriging in this dissertation. Kriging is a good tool for stratigraphic interpolation, however, it also has its limitations and deficiency. In this dissertation, it is aimed to reduce the uncertainties and mistakes in the estimated values (i.e. the geological model) using i.) the geology and topology and ii.) auxiliary information. In addition, an application of the Kriging result on the construction of diaphragm walls is used to illustrate i.) the effectiveness of the Kriging algorithm on rockhead interpolation, ii.) the feasibilities of using ArcMap to automate some processes needed in engineering designs.en_US
