Estimating ionospheric TEC distributions using L-band spaceborne synthetic aperture radar associated with Wenchuan earthquakeen_US
The spaceborne Interferometric synthetic aperture radar has been a widely used remote sensing technique for observing the Earth's surface, especially for measuring the Earth's topography and deformation. However, the low-frequency spaceborne SAR observations are strongly effected by the ionosphere, can lead to seriously degradation of InSAR observations if no compensation is applied. In this thesis, four approaches will be used to estimate the ionosphere effects via PolSAR and InSAR observations. From the experimental results, it is found that the absolute TEe image can be well extracted from Faraday rotation angle using full-polarization data. In the case of the InSAR measurements, we also demonstrated that the split-spectrum technique, range group delay method, and azimuth offset approach can be used in imaging the relative TEC. And the azimuth offset approach is more suitable than other two methods to separate the ionospheric contribution from ground surface motions.en_US
