dc.titleRemoval of endocrine disrupting compound (EDC) in water in a heterogeneous Photo-Fenton process with nanoparticulate zero-valent ironen_US
dcterms.abstractThis study investigated a heterogeneous Photo-Fenton system with nanoparticulate zero-valent iron to remove endocrine disrupting compound carbamazepine (CBZ) in laboratory environment. Nanoparticulate zero-valent iron was synthesized in the laboratory. The effects of UV wavelength, pH value, initial concentration of CBZ, nZVI dose and hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) concentration were determined. The experimental results showed the degradation rate increase with lower pH, initial CBZ dosage, and higher UV intensity, oxidant dosage, nZVI dosage. With the initial pH value of 3 and initial CBZ concentration of 0.6mM, the optimal dosage of reagents were 0.05g nZVI/L and 0.15mM H₂O₂. The CBZ degradation followed the pseudo-first-order kinetics well and the rate of CBZ degradation under different experimental variables was determined.en_US
