Abstract: Geologic Landslides hazards threaten public construction and maintenance frequently. Multi-period surveys using Airborne laser scanning enable quick 3D data acquisition to DEM or TIN which can observe and detect landslides hazards. The DEM or TIN is derived mainly from the interpretation to describe the location of all landslides. This article introduces a slope detection method in the field improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the field investigation. An algorithm is presented, which handles geo-coordinates rapidly upon field acquisition and performs elevation change by comparing these newly acquired scans to the old data simultaneously. By using slope inspection estimation, size of data set could shrink into about half of the original one almost without quality loss. The study also compared Kriging and other interpolation method applying in landslide area. For instance, we practiced our method reducing 52.09% redundant data of Hong Kong Island and finally detected the landslide scope criterion of 1.67 successfully.
