Abstract: The objective of this study is to evaluate the acoustical environment in a dental hospital. The influence of noise on people were studied. Noise measurements and a questionnaire survey were carried out in Philip dental hospital including pediatric clinic and laboratories. The questionnaire was used to collect subjective ratings of environmental noise and subjective health condition. Physical noise measurement including equivalent sound pressure level and one-third octave noise spectra measured by noise level meter 2207. The data were accurately coded and analyzed using SPSS 19.0. Result shows noise level is exceed the recommended noise indices. Hiss noise is more commonly exist in dental hospital different from the office environment. Vibration in the laboratory also commonly exists. Rumble sound occurred in laboratory background noise. It shows that noise problem in the laboratory is more serious. The correlation between noise level and self-health statement levels is small. However there is a significant difference in hearing gender, age and occupation (p<0.05). People in different occupation have exposed to different level of noise. Obviously long time expose to a noise environment in high level is affect people’s hearing. Statistical analyses in questionnaire also show that suddenness and frequency has strong and significantly positive correlation (P-value <0.01) with work quality and affect conversation during work. It is suggested that people work in high risk of noise environment should be using protection and noise issue should be carefully considered in the design of professional instrument.
