dcterms.abstractElectrostatic precipitator is a device commonly found in the modem coal-fired power station. The performance of ESP is directly related to the electrical resistivity of the ash. Based on data obtained from the coal trial burnt test and data extracted from the historical plant running database, comparisons are made on the effect of different parameters on the ESP performance, like ash compositions, flue gas flow and electrical properties of ESP from using different approaches such as electrical resistance between electrode, dust emission, V-I characteristics are made. In addition to the above comparisons, analysis of ESP performance upon burning different types of coal with the migration velocity based on the well-known Deutsch equation is also made. Analysis on the suitability of the Deutsch equation and the follower's modification describing the ESP of this paper is studied. Finally analysis on factors affecting the effect of SO3 dosing on the ESP performance is also made. Discrepancies on the existing empirical method used in the author's company on the prediction of SO3 dosing rate is also studied.en_US
