| dcterms.abstract | SARS in 2003 and Human Swine Influenza A (H1N1) in 2009 have alerted not only the Hong Kong Government but all the countries in the world to make preparedness to control the spread of seasonal influenza infection. Vaccination for seasonal influenza now becomes one of the most important primary preventive measures to reduce the burden of the medical service. The purpose of this study is to assess the willingness of pupil nurses who are under the Hospital Authority Enrolled Nurses Training Program in the School of General Nursing at Grantham Hospital to accept seasonal influenza vaccine. Quantitative data was collected using the questionnaire consisting of five parts with total 41 questions. Total 198 pupil nurses have completed the questionnaires. Results of their willingness to accept the seasonal influenza vaccines were analyzed using univariate and multivariate analyses within SPSS software. Among the 198 participants, 76 showed their interest in receiving vaccination when it was available and 122 out of them were not willing to accept vaccines with different reasons. The acceptance rate of seasonal influenza vaccination was low in the group of pupil nurses that was in consistent with the results from previous studies with similar purposes in different health care groups that could give the Hospital Authority insights into the development of health promotion program regarding seasonal influenza vaccination for the new generations of health care providers. | en_US |
