Sensory systems for sports applicationsen_US
Sensory system should include data collection with various sensors, data filtering, data transmission, and data visualization and interpretation. This dissertation gives a brief introduction to RF module-based electronic devices, localization algorithms, and data visualization for instant feedback. The project go thought few of well-known wireless devices, Arduino MCU Atmel break-out board, C-based Wire programming to Arduino, JavaTM-based data visualization tool, Android based application programming, the latest Google API and data smoothing filtering. Firstly, we have set a goal to provide indoor localization solution to Hong Kong Cycling Team. However, with some literature review and evaluation on the Bluetooth inquiry-based RSSI localization method, the results shown that the method was only feasible to static and standalone object for accuracy up to few meters, and this is subject to the environment. It still have a lot of research area to such Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) for tracking a dynamic fast moving object, such as a cycling bike. We also investigated another localization technologies, Global Positioning System and inertia motion sensors, etc. An android-based smartphone with real time outdoor localization application has been established to on waters sports. Working with those built-in motion sensors, the smartphone provides instant tidal current information and tidal wave condition to on water sports teams for training and competition strategy. In the meantime, we also applied the knowledge in localization technology to provide different applications to Rowing, and Bowling.en_US
