Multi-dimension information space (MDIS) for structured data and web page dataen_US
Faced with growing knowledge management needs from both internet and traditional relational database, users are increasingly realizing the importance of interlinking and organizing information distributed across structured database and unstructured web pages data. In this paper, we present an interface, called MDIS (multi dimension information space), for displaying and navigating the structured data from relational database and web pages. With this interface model, user can organize the information of entity which include people or organization and use search engine automatically to get all the web page related to this entity, then put these web pages and data from relational database together into the interface and display them all in a vividly way. Our evaluation shows that users were generally very satisfied with the MDIS interface, and the interface also achieves high performance compare with manually search by using search engine with reasonable overheads. After the implement and prototype design of this creative interface, we find out some important issue for further research.en_US
