dcterms.abstractConstruction industry is well known as the worst profit-maker in the secondary industry, mainly due to its low productivity. Compare to other industries, the construction industry seem to reject implementing new technology to facilitate common work. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a tool for assisting the construction management process.Using BIM for design visualization, detecting conflicts, material taking-off, simulating constructability are a few capabilities when using BIM. By implementing BIM in a construction project, each parties of the project can experience productivity gains. Productivity rates increase because time and cost are reduced to produce the same building or more qualified building. This research assessed the impact of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on construction productivity. Qualitative studies including case study, interview and questionnaire survey were conducted to measure the changes in productivity rates, because the specific numbers of productivity rates were unknown to many contractors. The metrics for assessing project productivity includes: time, cost and quality. The benefits of implementing BIM that improve the productivity were identified through case study and interview, and the factors were rated in the web-based questionnaire survey. The most significant advantage of BIM is improved design quality and reducing the design problems, which eliminates the conflict in the construction site and improve the productivity by save time and money.en_US
