Abstract: In this thesis, a new numerical method (pimpleFsiFoam) for fluid-solid interaction is developed in OpenFOAM. The Radial Basis Method (RBF) is applied to deal with the dynamic mesh problem caused by the deformation of the structure. The finite volume incompressible fluid solver is using PIPMLE algorithm which is the merged PISO (Pressure Implicit Split Operator) algorithm and SIMPLE (Semi Implicit Methods Pressure Linked Equations). The stressedFoam is applied as the solid solver to calculate the stress and deformation of the structure. The weak fluid solver and solid solver couple algorithm is applied in this numerical method. In addition, this numerical method is compared with the existing numerical method built in the OpenFOAM and the classical fluid-solid interaction case. This numerical method shows more precise than the built-in solver (icoFsiFoam).
