Abstract: Vibration isolation is widely used to reduce the structure-borne noise by building services engineers, in practice, the term force transmissibility is applied for the selection and performance check, which caused some problems that in some certain frequency, the performance even worse than before (Mak & Su, 0000). This dissertation not only compared the theory of direct measurement, indirect measurement and theoretical measurement, but also conduct the three measurements by following the indication of each equation and assumption, then make a comparison of the calculated results of each measurement. The introduction chapter shows the background of this three measurement, and literature review part explains all the three measurement equation, background, assumptions as well as the job done before of this three measurements. The major objective of this dissertation is to make a comparison of three measurement and finding the relationship of it, also points out the existed errors and the improvement tools relative to the three measurement. The methodology part introduced the whole experiment period and the conduction of each measurement in details. The result and analysis part presents the result and make the comparison of the transmitted power, through different tools and different frequency ranges. It was found that theoretical measurements was deviated from direct and indirect measurements due to the reasons like the single degree freedom of the free velocity part. Also through the comparison of direct and indirect measurement, it was found that the power majorly matched with each other both in peak values of certain frequency and power change tendency with the change of frequency. This phenomenon indicates that indirect measurement was applicable in check performance of vibration isolators or selection of isolators, and there was also some potential errors occurs need to be noticed in handling direct and indirect measurement. An insight into the using of measurements brought comprehension and convenience for building services engineers to reduce the structure-borne sound power, which firstly protect the machine and supporting structure from the damage caused by vibration machines itself, secondly, do little contribution to a better sound environmental for building occupants.
