Abstract: Over the years, blocked hotel drainage system, especially blocked toilet due to tissue paper and other wastes is a real nightmare to guests and administrators. Hence, it is imperative to analyze the causes of this phenomenon and identify its solutions. To address this issue, the comprehensive analysis was employed taking consideration of effects from drainage system design, pipe material, water flow, flushability of tissue and inappropriate behaviors of guests. This report provides relevant literature of study by researchers before all-round. Besides, various investigation and statistical analysis on possible blockage of hotel drainage system has been carried out, taking the data provided by a local hotelin Hong Kong as an example. According to the four engineering periods--design, construction, usage and inspection, some practical and meaningful recommendations are put forward based on the results and discussion to alleviate and avoid blockage of toilet drainage system in local hotel.
