dcterms.abstractIn view of the high demand of Chinese Character processing systems recently, study was done to evaluate various techniques of Chinese Character compression methods in different area and to develop an effective compression algorithm for personal communication requirement - Chinese Character Pager System was assumed. The dissertation was focused on proposing an effective Chinese Character compression scheme for pager systems. The result is beneficial to the whole paging service provision market since the merit created by the compression technique can increase the efficiency of the paging transmitter and eventually reduces the operation cost of paging services.en_US
